Cáncer de cérvix
Acabo de llegar de una conferencia acerca del cáncer de mama y de cérvix, creo que es una información que debemos difundir para que todas las féminas estén informadas.. pensaba colgar la información una vez escaneada pero me está resultando más difícil que construir un cohete y como tampoco puedo adjuntar el archivo en facebook, pues nada escribiré hasta que me canse... todo sea FOR YOUR INFORMATION...
1. ¿que es el cervix? es el cuello del útero, la parte inferior del útero que se abre a la vagina.
2. ¿qué es el cancer de cervix? una proliferacion anormal de celulas que quedan confinadas en esta region del cuerpo. El desarrollo de un cancer de cuello de utero esta precedido por una displasia, o cambios precancerosos en las celulas en la superficie del cervix.
3. ¿por que se habla tanto del cancer de cervix? porque junto con el cancer de mama es el tumor mas frecuente en la mujer. Cada año alrededor de medio millon de mujeres se diagnostican con un cancer de cervix en todo el mundo.
4. ¿hay alguna etapa previa al cancer de cervix? Sí. En ocasiones las celulas del cervix son anormales, aunque no llegan a ser completamente cancerigenas; en esta sitaucion se denominan celulas premaligans o precancerosas, es decir que pueden degenerar en cancer si no se trata precozmente. En esta situacion hablamos de Neoplasia Cervical Intraepitelial o CIN. Las CIN tipo I son las que tienen un grado de malignidad bajo. Las CIN tipo II o tipo III son mas peligrosas, y representan la fase previa al desarrollo de un cancer.
5. ¿Por que se produce el cancer de cervix? Se origina por la infeccion cronica del Papilomavirus Humano (VPH). Esta infeccion es muy frecuente, el 80% de las mujeres sufre esta infeccion en algun momento de su vida; en la mayoria de los casos esta infeccion desaparece (se elimina por el sistema inmunologico); en los casos en que la infeccion por VPH se hace cronica, se puede originar verrugas o papilomas genitales y solo en algunas circunstancias pueden causar un cancer de cervix.
6. ¿Como se contagia la infeccion por VPH? se transmite durante las relaciones sexuales. El coito con penetracion no es imprescindible para adquirir la infeccion; puede tambien adquirirse por contacto piel con piel (cuando hay una pequeña erosion). Aunque el preservativo reduce el riesgo, no protege totalmente a la mujer de una infeccion por el VPH, ya que este puede estar presente en zonas no cubiertas por el preservativo.
7. ¿Todos los VPH son cancerigenos? No. Existe unos tipos de VPH que se conocen como tipos de alto riesgo, porque son los que mas implicados estan en la aparicion de estas lesiones; son los tipos 16, 18, 45, 56 y otros. Solo los tipos 16 y 18 son responsables del 70% de los tumores de cervix. Aunque la mayoria de mujeres con infeccion por los tipos de alto riesgo no desarrollaran un cancer de cervix y desaparece la infeccion gracias al sistema inmune de la mujer, en algunas mujeres esta infeccion no desaparece y puede ser el origen del cancer de cuello de utero.
8. ¿como se puede detectar un cancer de cervix? con revisiones ginecologicas. El test de Papanicolau o citologia vaginal es la prueba mas importante para detectar los cambios celulares mas precoces en el desarrollo de un cancer de cervix.
